Avon Park Air Force Range MIRR Steering Committee Meeting

On Wednesday, February 24, 2025 the CFRPC will facilitate a Military Installation Resiliency Review (MIRR) Steering Committee Meeting for the Avon Park Air Force Range (APAFR) and local communities. This work is funded through a Department of Defense Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation MIRR Grant.

Avon Park, FL –The Central Florida Regional Planning Council will facilitate a Military Installation Resiliency Review (MIRR) Steering Committee Meeting for the Avon Park Air Force Range (APAFR) and local communities. This work is funded through a Department of Defense Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation MIRR Grant.

The Department of Defense has expressed concern regarding damaging impacts of natural and manmade hazards and threats by increasing frequency and magnitude of tropical storms, flooding, and extreme rainfall to military operations and communities supporting them. The APAFR is dependent upon critical infrastructure provided by the community including transportation infrastructure and utilities including potable water, wastewater, natural gas and electricity. This project will improve the integration of central Florida’s primary military installation while strengthening military-civilian engagement.

The Steering Committee will review progress on the project to date. Resiliency initiatives identified through the MIRR may be eligible for implementation funding opportunities.

The meeting is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the Central Florida Regional Planning Council office at (863) 534-7130.
